The Preventori Judicial de Barcelona was a detention facility — essentially a holding institution for individuals caught up in the Republican judicial apparatus during the Civil War. Its Economat, an internal supply cooperative, issued its own low-denomination scrip to manage transactions within the institution's closed economy. This note is one of the more obscure examples of Republican-era prisoner or staff cantina currency, a category that saw hundreds of issuers across Catalonia in 1936–38, most producing tiny runs on whatever card stock was available.

Allepuz catalogues it as AL#1367, which places it within the broader Catalan local issues series, but surviving examples are genuinely rare — institutional scrip of this type was discarded or destroyed when the facility closed after Franco's forces took Barcelona in January 1939.
