Alcudia de Crespins is a small municipality in Valencia's Costera comarca, and like hundreds of other Spanish towns during the Civil War it resorted to issuing its own emergency small change — moneda local — after the Republican government's coin supply collapsed under wartime disruption. These municipal issues were never intended for use beyond town boundaries and were theoretically redeemable once normal coinage returned, a promise most issuers lacked any real capacity to keep.
The Turró and Garrió catalogues record relatively few surviving examples from this municipality, which is consistent with the limited print runs typical of villages of this size. The 2 pesetas denomination was among the higher values circulating at this level of local issue.
