| Aanvullende informatie |
Montenegro issued this restrike to commemorate the golden jubilee of Nikola I's reign, originally celebrated in 1910 — the same year he elevated Montenegro from a principality to a kingdom and crowned himself its first and only king. He was deposed nine years later when the Paris Peace Conference effectively handed Montenegro to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes without a plebiscite, a move Nikola spent his remaining years contesting from exile in France, where he died in 1921.
The restrike program ran across multiple years, which is worth noting for date collectors: pieces from different years within the 2002–2006 window are otherwise physically indistinguishable.
