2 Perpera - Nikola I

Montenegro's 1910 coinage was issued to mark the proclamation of the kingdom — Nikola I elevated the principality to a full monarchy that year, a political move designed partly to assert parity with neighboring Serbia and the broader European royal order. The perpera itself had only been introduced in 1906, replacing the prior perper system and aligning Montenegro's currency formally with the Latin Monetary Union's silver standards, though Montenegro was never actually a member state.
