Obverse description Struck in high relief, the entire field is occupied by three horizontal lines of bold Nastaliq calligraphy within a plain inner border, enclosed by a pronounced outer beaded border. The legend reads the royal invocation and regal titles of Tipu Sultan in Persian script, rendered in a flowing, deeply engraved hand characteristic of late-18th-century Mysorean gold coinage. The lowermost register contains the regnal year in the Mauludi era. No figurative imagery appears; the design is purely epigraphic in the Islamic tradition.
