| 裏面の説明 | Crowned shield bearing the Three Crowns of Sweden, displayed within a beaded inner circle, with the last two digits of the date flanking the shield at either side. The king's Latin motto appears as a circumferential legend in the outer field, running between the inner circle and the coin's periphery. The hammered flan produces a slightly irregular planchet typical of sixteenth-century Swedish silver coinage. |

Johan III's monetary program was partly driven by his need to fund ongoing conflict with Russia — the Livonian War had drained Swedish reserves, and the crown was simultaneously managing debts inherited from his father Gustav Vasa's reign. The Type II designation distinguishes this issue from the short-lived Type I of the same year, the two differing in die arrangement and punch execution at the Stockholm mint.
The .500 fineness reflects a deliberate debasement from earlier Swedish silver standards, a policy Johan pursued aggressively through the early 1570s to stretch bullion supplies.
