Additional information

Carlo here is Carlo VII of Sicily — simultaneously Carlos III of Spain from 1759 — whose Neapolitan and Sicilian coinage was abruptly terminated when he inherited the Spanish throne and was obliged by treaty to relinquish the Two Sicilies to his eight-year-old son Ferdinando. That succession compressed the window for this type to just three years, explaining its relative scarcity against other Sicilian gold of the period.
