| 背面描述 | The reverse features a stylized olive branch rendered in a modern artistic style, its rightmost stem forming the letter 'Shin' (ש), the first letter of the Hebrew word 'שלום' (Shalom, meaning Peace). The complete word 'שלום' appears in bold, stylized Hebrew lettering occupying the central field. Below the Hebrew inscription, the word 'PEACE' in Latin script and 'سلام' (Salam) in Arabic script are inscribed, presenting the theme of peace in the three languages of the peace treaty signatories. |

Struck to commemorate the Washington Declaration of July 1994 and the formal peace treaty signed at the Arava/Araba border crossing on October 26 of that year, this issue marks the second peace agreement between Israel and an Arab state — the first being the Egypt treaty of 1979, fifteen years prior. The treaty ended a 46-year formal state of war.
KM#279 was released in both proof and standard collector finishes, with distribution handled jointly through Israeli and Jordanian channels — an arrangement that was itself diplomatically novel for the two mints.
