Israel's National Water Carrier, completed in 1964, was an engineering undertaking that redirected water from the Sea of Galilee southward through 130 kilometers of pipe, tunnel, and open canal into the Negev — a project that defined the country's agricultural viability for decades. This coin marks the fiftieth anniversary of that infrastructure, issued as part of Israel's long-running Independence Day commemorative series, which has released a collector silver piece annually since 1958.
