Obverse description The obverse features a field of heavenly stars at left, symbolising the Divine promise to Abraham that his descendants shall multiply as the stars of heaven. The State of Israel emblem (menorah flanked by olive branches) appears centrally, surrounded by the inscriptions 'Israel' in Hebrew (ישראל), Arabic (إسرائيل), and Latin script. The face value '2 שקלים חדשים / 2 NEW SHEQALIM' is stated in Hebrew and English, with the Gregorian mint year 2006 and the Hebrew year התשס״ו below. A trilingual legend in Hebrew, English, and Arabic reading 'Abraham and the Three Angels / Gen. 18' frames the design, with the Holy Land Mint mark (מ) also present.
