Israel has issued commemorative coins for FIFA World Cups since at least the 1990s, a curious tradition given the Israeli national team has never qualified for the tournament. The 2014 Brazil edition was part of a broader international licensing program FIFA ran with mints and central banks worldwide, generating revenue through official commemorative series rather than any direct sporting connection.
KM#513 is one of several Israeli silver issues from this period struck at the Israel Coins and Medals Corp. in Jerusalem.
