Part of Israel's ongoing Biblical Figures series, this issue commemorates the Patriarchs and Matriarchs cycle that the Bank of Israel has issued intermittently since the 1990s. The New Shekel denomination used here is nominally legal tender but was never intended for circulation — the face value is essentially a legal fiction that allows the coin to be issued under monetary authority rather than as a medallion.
KM#562 is among the later entries in the series, struck at the Kremnica Mint in Slovakia, which has handled a significant portion of Israel's commemorative silver production.
