Aanvullende informatie

Saxony's Neugroschen coinage was already an anachronism by the time these were struck. The North German Confederation had formed in 1867, and the new unified monetary framework that would become the Goldmark system was visibly approaching. Dresden continued issuing these transitional billon pieces through 1873 — the very year the Coinage Act standardized Imperial Germany's currency and rendered the entire Neugroschen denomination obsolete overnight.
