| Obverse description | Round cast bronze coin with a central square hole, typical of the Joseon-era Sangpyeong Tongbo series. Four Chinese characters in traditional regular script (kaishu) are arranged in the four cardinal positions around the central aperture. The character 常 (Sang) appears at the top and 平 (Pyeong) at the bottom, reading vertically; 通 (Tong) is placed to the right and 寶 (Bo) to the left, reading horizontally. The fields are plain, with a raised rim encircling the coin and a raised square rim framing the central hole. |
