Reverse description Round cast bronze cash coin with a central square perforation and raised square inner rim. Three Chinese characters are disposed around the central hole: 統 (tong) above, 來 (lae) below, and a trigram symbol ☳ (Zhen/震) to the right, the latter serving as a mint or furnace mark identifying the issuing bureau. On the standard variety a small concave dot or star mark may appear to the right of the square hole. The flat field shows typical casting texture, and a plain raised outer rim borders the coin.
