| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin featuring the four-character reign legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) arranged in cruciform reading around a central square perforation. The characters are disposed in the traditional manner: 常 (top), 寶 (bottom), 通 (right), and 平 (left), each set within the annular field between the square hole and the raised rim. The script is rendered in standard Chinese characters in a bold, slightly worn relief typical of Joseon-era cast coinage. Both the inner and outer rims are clearly defined, and the flat field shows the patina and surface texture characteristic of sand-cast production. |
