Obverse description Round cast copper coin featuring a central square perforation framed by a raised square border. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in the traditional cruciform reading order around the central hole: 常 (above), 通 (right), 寶 (below-right), and 平 (below), composing the legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyong Tongbo), the standard inscription of Joseon cash coinage. The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief against a flat, unadorned field, with a broad raised rim encircling the design. The overall style is consistent with mid-18th century Joseon cast coinage.
