Reverse description Cast brass reverse exhibiting a heavily patinated, granular field with two Chinese characters in running script (xingshu) flanking the central square perforation: 開 (kae, meaning Kaesong) positioned above the hole and 列 (ryol, indicating the series or order number) positioned below. The characters serve as mint and issue-series identifiers specific to the Kaesong Township Military Office. The raised rim and square collar are consistent with the obverse, and the field shows considerable surface encrustation consistent with extended circulation.
