The character 捴 (Chong), denoting the General Military Office (捻戎廳, Chongyung Chong), appears above the hole, while 黄 (Hwang), meaning Yellow — a colour-based mint identifier — is placed below. The field is plain and flat, and the characters are rendered in raised relief consistent with the cast manufacture of Joseon-period cash coinage. A small square notch is visible at the upper right of the central hole, a common casting artefact on coins of this series. |
