Obverse description Within a beaded border, four large Chinese characters are arranged in a two-by-two grid filling the central field, reading top to bottom and right to left: 餉 二 錢 金 (Gold Ration / 2 Qian). The characters are rendered in bold relief with no additional ornamentation, giving the design a stark, utilitarian appearance characteristic of provincial ration coinage of the late Qing dynasty.
