Obverse description Quartered shield of arms occupying the central field, displaying fleurs-de-lis in the first and fourth quarters and rampant lions in the second and third quarters; a small inescutcheon bearing a lion is superimposed at the fess point. The shield is enclosed within a circular legend border rendered in uncial characters. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval Low Countries hammered coinage, with irregular flan edges and uneven strike.
