| Obverse description | A rampant lion passant to the left occupies the central field, crudely rendered in the medieval hammered tradition, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, struck in uncial characters, reads ✠ ARnOLDVS : STEINENS, identifying the issuing lord Arnold of Stein. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat weak, typical of low-denomination billon coinage of the mid-14th-century Low Countries. |
