| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central design depicts a camel rider in traditional dress, shown in profile moving to the left, with the camel rendered in a bold, stylized manner characteristic of mid-20th century Sudanese coinage. The rider holds a staff or spear, adding a sense of cultural identity to the composition. The date appears in both Arabic-Indic and Western numerals along the lower portion of the field, reading '١٣٩١ - ١٩٧١'. The entire design is contained within the distinctive twelve-notch scalloped border of the coin. |

Sudan's 1969 coup brought Jaafar Nimeiry to power and with him a complete overhaul of the national currency apparatus — the Bank of Sudan replaced the Sudan Currency Board as issuing authority, and a new coin series followed almost immediately. These 1970–1971 bronze pieces represent the first issues under that reorganized structure, minted while the country was still consolidating the institutional changes of the revolution.
