| 备注 |
The Banco de Crédito Popular do Brazil was one of dozens of private banks that briefly flourished during the Encilhamento — the speculative bubble unleashed by Finance Minister Rui Barbosa's 1889 monetary reforms, which dramatically loosened credit and allowed a wave of new banks to issue their own notes. Most of these institutions collapsed within a few years, taking their paper with them.
The American Bank Note Company held long-standing relationships with Brazilian issuers throughout this period, supplying engraved notes to both government and private banks simultaneously. Whether the Banco de Crédito Popular ever achieved meaningful circulation before the bubble burst is uncertain.
