Obverse description Central field bears the Arabic name of Sultan Abd al-Aziz in calligraphic script, with the Hijri date 1319 inscribed below in Western-Arabic (Maghribi) numerals. The central device is enclosed within a plain raised circle, itself surrounded by an ornamental geometric chain border of interlocking Moorish motifs. The outer rim features a fine dentilated edge running the full circumference of the coin.
