Reverse description Central device consists of the Imperial German eagle displayed, with wings spread and head turned to the right, bearing on its breast an escutcheon of the Hohenzollern arms quartered. The eagle is surmounted by an Imperial crown and flanked by decorative oak and laurel sprays at the base, with sceptre and orb visible in the talons. The legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs across the upper field, with the date 1888 positioned to the right, while the denomination ZWEI MARK appears in the lower field, flanked by small five-pointed stars. The whole is contained within a dentilated border.
