附加信息

Charles Alexander ruled Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach from 1853 until his death in 1901, making this 1892 issue a relatively late product of his reign. The Grand Duchy had a long association with German intellectual culture — Goethe and Schiller both worked under ducal patronage there — though by 1892 that reputation was essentially historical capital rather than living policy. German states retained the right to strike commemorative and circulation silver under the 1871 imperial coinage framework, but that window was narrowing. Charles Alexander's issues are modestly scarce simply because Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach was one of the smaller constituent states.
