Obverse description Central field bearing the Roman numeral II enclosed within a geometric cartouche or frame, the precise shape varying by variety (square, octagon, circle, or ringlet). The denomination mark is rendered in bold relief against a flat field. The design is characteristic of the small silver coinage struck by the Free Imperial City of Aachen during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
