Obverse description The obverse features the Imperial German eagle displayed in high relief at the center of the field, rendered with spread wings, each feather finely detailed, and the head turned to the right. The eagle bears upon its breast a quartered heraldic shield, and is surmounted by the Imperial crown. The surrounding legend reads DEUTSCHES REICH in the upper arc and ZWEI MARK in the lower arc, with the date 1876 appearing to the right, all enclosed within a beaded border.
