Obverse description Central field occupied by the German Imperial eagle displayed, wings spread, surmounted by an Imperial crown with ribbons; the eagle bears on its breast a quartered heraldic shield. The peripheral legend reads DEUTSCHES REICH, with the date 1876 at right, and the denomination ZWEI MARK at the base, all separated by small six-pointed stars.
