Reverse description Central field displays the crowned royal monogram of Duke Karl (later Karl IX of Sweden), composed of an elaborate interlaced cipher rendered in relief against a plain square field. The monogram is surmounted by a ducal crown. Below the monogram, the denomination indicator '2 M' (for 2 Mark) appears. The legend 'CDS' (Carolus Dux Sudermaniae) is inscribed across the lower portion of the field, identifying the issuing authority.
