At centre, a large red oval vignette of scrolling acanthus foliage frames the numeral '2' in red; the denomination 'ZWEI MARK' is overprinted in bold black capitals to either side of the vignette, with 'GUT FÜR' above in black. The issuer inscription 'Chemnitz.' appears below the central vignette in black, flanked by two small red Imperial German eagle devices in the lower corners, with the disclaimer 'Kein öffentliches Zahlungsmittel.' at foot; corner numerals '2' appear in red at all four angles.
