The Deutscher Schutzbund was a nationalist economic protection league active in early Weimar Germany, issuing notgeld-style scrip to facilitate local trade during the severe currency instability of the early 1920s. The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Glauchau-Stollberg was a regional working group of that organization, covering two neighboring Saxon industrial towns whose textile and metalworking industries made them particularly vulnerable to payment disruptions when hard currency effectively vanished from daily commerce.
Printed locally by Rats-Druckerei R. Dulce — the municipal print house in Glauchau — rather than one of the specialist notgeld printers, which kept costs down but typically resulted in simpler production values than contemporaneous issues from larger centers.
