The circular peripheral legend PIETATE · ET · IVSTITIA · runs around the coin, translating as 'With Piety and Justice,' separated by a star or pellet stop. The cartouche is flanked by scrolling baroque acanthus-style ornaments. The border is defined by a continuous beaded rim. The design is characteristic of the bold, formal engraving style prevalent at the Copenhagen Mint under Christian V. |
