| Reverse description | Central design features a baroque cartouche-style shield surmounted by a large ornate open crown with floral finials, within which the denomination inscription II MARCK DANSKE is displayed in three lines, with the date 1684 below and the mintmaster initials G·S· beneath the date. The circular peripheral legend PIETATE · ET · IVSTITIA · runs around the coin, translating as 'With Piety and Justice,' separated by a star or pellet stop. The cartouche is flanked by scrolling baroque acanthus-style ornaments. The border is defined by a continuous beaded rim. The design is characteristic of the bold, formal engraving style prevalent at the Copenhagen Mint under Christian V. |
