Christian V's Norwegian coinage of the 1680s was produced under a monetary reorganization imposed from Copenhagen, where the Danish crown maintained tight control over Norwegian mint output. The Bergen mint, responsible for this issue, operated with chronic supply problems — silver deliveries were irregular, and the assay standards fluctuated enough that pieces from this period show measurable variation in fineness across the run.
