Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Carl XI facing left, with long flowing hair, occupying the majority of the field. The effigy is rendered in a baroque portrait style with a laurel wreath crown and richly draped shoulders. A circular Latin legend runs continuously around the periphery, separated from the central effigy by an inner ring on some varieties. The legends are struck in relief against a flat field.
