| Reverse description | Printed in dark brown on a pale mauve-toned ground, the reverse is dominated by a triptych vignette: at centre, a finely drawn portrait in left profile of an elderly man rendered in crosshatch style; to the left, a panel with star motifs and a ribbon cartouche inscribed with the names 'Lulu v. Strauß u. Torney'; to the right, a panel with a sketch of a sailing vessel. The artist's signature 'Prelle 22' appears at lower right of the central panel. A Gothic-script caption runs across the top and bottom of the composition, and a further inscription in smaller type appears along the lower margin. |
