Obverse description Green and red letterpress note with a central oval vignette of the Elberfeld Town Hall (Rathaus), rendered in fine line engraving and set against a lightly tinted green ground with decorative oak-leaf corner ornaments. The denomination "Zwei Mark" is inscribed in large red Fraktur script flanking the vignette left and right, while a banner above reads "GUTSCHEIN DER STADT ELBERFELD" in red capitals. At the base of the oval, the city arms — a red rampant lion on a white and red barred shield — appear below a fountain motif, with the issue date "Elberfeld, 1. Okt. 1920" and the expiry notice "Dieser Schein verliert seine Gültigkeit am 1. Febr. 1922" flanking the shield, accompanied by a manuscript signature.
