| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is printed in black and red on cream paper, with a serrated decorative border framing the entire note. The header reads 'Die Sparkasse der Stadt BELGARD' in bold Fraktur script, with 'BELGARD' rendered in large red capital letters. At centre, an elaborate heraldic vignette presents the arms of Belgard — a crowned shield bearing a rampant black griffin, surmounted by a black eagle and surrounded by ornate acanthus scrollwork initialled 'WHL'. Payment text in Gothic script occupies the left panel, the denomination 'Zwei Mark' appears in cursive on the right, and the serial number and account designation 'Konto P' are printed in the lower corners. |

Belgard an der Persante — today Białogard in northwestern Poland — issued this Notgeld through its municipal savings bank during the inflationary emergency period following the First World War. Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau were among the more prolific regional printers of German Notgeld, supplying dozens of small municipalities across Silesia and Pomerania with reasonably well-produced emergency scrip. W.H. Lippert's design credit is unusual — individual designer attribution on Notgeld is far from universal, and suggests a more deliberate commission than the off-the-shelf vignette work common in cheaper issues.
