Dorsten is a small Westphalian town whose municipal notgeld program in 1921 sat squarely within the second wave of German emergency money — no longer the crude wartime issues of 1914–18, but the more deliberately produced "series" notgeld aimed partly at collectors and partly at genuine small-change shortages.
