Stadt Marne-Dithmarschen
Kunstanstalt Langebartels & Jürgens, Altona
Reverse description The vignette, executed in a bold expressionist woodcut style, centres on a lone male figure in a long coat and hat leaning into a driving storm, diagonal hatching lines conveying wind and rain across the entire field. At left stands a ruined or storm-battered urban building rendered in red and black, while a green landscape with a distant structure appears at right. Coloured heraldic shields occupy the upper corners: a red shield with an armoured horseman at upper left, and a blue-and-red shield with a haloed saint at upper right. The denomination '2 M' is repeated in white on red square cartouches at the lower corners, and a Low German verse in Gothic script runs across the upper portion of the note; the serial number appears in black numerals along the bottom margin.
Reverse lettering De Welt de steiht un schall wol stahn
Stah du man fast, recht as'n Knast,
denn schallt wol gahn!
