| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bold graphic design in red and black on cream paper, with a wide decorative border carrying the legend GERA-REUSS repeated on all four sides in large stylized lettering. The central field is dominated by a black diamond lozenge on a red ground, within which the large denomination numeral '2' and letter 'M' are rendered in white with fine hatched shading. Two text panels occupy the upper corners, stating acceptance by all city treasuries on the left and the expiry date on the right. The issue date and serial number appear at lower left, with the city council's facsimile signature at lower right. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Expressionist vignette in grey-black and red on cream paper, enclosed by a red border. A striding warrior figure in medieval dress, sword raised and shield in hand, dominates the composition against a dramatically shaded diagonal background; in the upper right, a burning town or settlement is rendered in the distance. The large decorative initial 'G' in red and black anchors the upper left. The denomination '2 M' appears in bold red numerals at lower right, with the artist's credit 'KARL SCHNEIDER ERFURT' inscribed at lower right of the vignette. |

Gera's 2 Mark notgeld of 1921 belongs to the inflationary emergency currency wave that swept German municipalities as the Reichsbank struggled to keep small denominations in circulation. Karl Schneider of Erfurt was a prolific designer of Thuringian notgeld during this period, contributing to dozens of local issues across the region.
The print date of 30 April 1945 is almost certainly a catalog or transcription error — that date is the day of Hitler's death and falls well outside any plausible production window for 1921 Weimar-era notgeld.
