Jerichow II was one of the rural administrative districts (Kreise) of the Prussian province of Saxony, with Genthin as its seat. Like dozens of similar district committees across Weimar Germany, the Kreisausschuss stepped into the monetary vacuum left by the chronic small-change shortage of the early 1920s, issuing notgeld locally rather than waiting for the Reichsbank to catch up with demand.
The DeNG reference distinguishes at least two variants within this 2 Mark type — catalogue positions 658.2-3/4 — likely differentiated by serial number range, signature, or paper stock. Collectors working this series should check both carefully before attributing.
