Jerichow II was one of the rural administrative districts (Kreise) of the Prussian province of Saxony, with Genthin as its seat. Like dozens of similar district committees across Weimar Germany, the Kreisausschuss stepped into the monetary vacuum left by the chronic small-change shortage of the early 1920s, issuing notgeld locally rather than waiting for the Reichsbank to catch up with demand.
