Obverse description Central field dominated by a large interlaced TA monogram for Bishop Theodor Adolf von der Recke, surmounted by a bishop's mitre. The date 1655 is divided to either side of the monogram. The surrounding legend reads FVRS. PADB. LA. MVNTZ., denoting the Fürstbischöfliche Paderborn local mint authority. The overall style is characteristic of mid-17th century German ecclesiastical hammered coinage.
