| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays a rampant lion passant to the left, crowned, representing the arms of León, rendered in bold relief within a plain inner circle and an outer beaded border. The lion's forepaws are raised and its head is turned to face the viewer, consistent with standard Castilian heraldic convention of the late sixteenth century. The surrounding Latin legend, partially legible on this irregularly struck flan, reads HISPANIARVM REX, identifying Philip II as King of the Spains. The strike is typical of hammered low-denomination billon issues, exhibiting irregular planchet shape and uneven relief. |
