Reverse description Two oval shields side by side, surmounted by a single royal crown, forming the central device. The left shield bears the arms of France — three fleurs-de-lis — while the right shield displays the royal cipher of Louis XVI composed of two interlaced Ls within a pearl-bordered cartouche. The mint mark letter (K for Bordeaux on the illustrated example) appears below the shields, flanked by the assay master's privy marks. The circular Latin legend CHRS • RECN • VINC • IMPE, an abbreviation of the Christus regnat vincit imperat motto, runs around the periphery together with the date, enclosed by a continuous dentilated border.
