Reverse description Two oval shields side by side, surmounted by a single royal crown, the left shield bearing the three fleurs-de-lis of France and the right shield displaying the chained Navarre cross on a decorated ground, both set within a beaded inner border. The circular Latin legend CHRS • REGN • VINC • IMPE (Christus Regnat, Vincit, Imperat — Christ reigns, conquers, commands) runs around the periphery. The date 1777 appears in the upper portion of the legend, and the mint letter K (Bordeaux) is placed beneath the shields. The composition is rendered in a bold, precise relief characteristic of late Ancien Régime French gold coinage.
