| Obverse description | One-third segment cut from a Spanish colonial 8 Reales cob (macuquina) coinage, retaining a partial view of the crowned royal arms of Castile and León at centre, with the characteristic castle and lion motifs visible within the rectangular shield. Partial Latin legend curves along the arc of the cut edge, reading HISPAN · ET S:Lucie, denoting the Saint Lucia colonial countermark authority. The field is characteristically irregular and flan-roughened, consistent with the cob coinage production method. The cut edge is straight, forming the chord of the segment, while the original milled or reeded edge of the parent coin is partially preserved along the curved periphery. |
